Formations

"Formations" is a project for monumental sculpture with highly aesthetic values of form and consistency. The major topic of the sculpture is the re-forming of the usual geometry of the parallel prisms, which can be seen in modern and post-modern architecture, into new dimensions of the form. The new form that is arriving is through organic forms that are participating in the transformation. The sculpture aims to show this process and take visitors to this visual spectacle between sharp lines, raw exterior walls, and organic volumes inside.

Artist statement during the production of the sculpture:

""Formations" is a sculpture made for the Israeli city Kiryat Bialik between the 1st and 17th of October in two different periods. The first one began with peace and happiness in which we gathered again with friends and families celebrating the good life and art. Then it came the second one October 7 - the black Saturday for the freedom and democracy of one of the most unified and strong nations - Israel. Many artists who came to create public sculptures for this city have decided to stay and finish our sculptures in times of war! We built for the present and future, and they destroyed cities with rockets! We won't stop building! Personally, I felt like "Leander" the personage from the novel "Hero and Leander" by Milorad Pavić. Leander was building chirches from stone, on the way of the advancing Ottomans to make their way to the Serbian towns slower, and to earn time for the Christian people to escape from the coming disaster... I felt stronger because I was building my sculpture for the good and peaceful life of all the citizens(Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Druze ecct.) of the State of Israel. I hope this evil tragedy of the second Holocaust, that Israel experienced on October 7 will not happen again there and nowhere else in the world. I hope that when peaceful times come again this sculpture will be part of normal citizens' and visitors' lives in Kiryat Bialik. Amin!"
